Jaffas are iconic Kiwiana - small round sweets with an unforgetable solid chocolate orange centre. This raw Chocolate Orange Slice captures that distinctive Jaffa flavour with delicious raw goodness.

Made from dried apricots, cranberries, nuts, orange, and cacao, this health-filled slice is perfect for your mid-winter celebrations.

Prepare the base

1 c raw pecan nuts
1 c raw cashew nuts
1 c raw shredded coconut
1/3 c pumpkin seeds
1 c dried sour apricots
5 medjool dates
1/2 c cranberries
Zest and juice of 1 orange
2 T coconut oil
1 tsp vanilla essence (or pinch of powder)

Line a 20 x 20 cm spring bottom cake tin with baking paper.

Use a food processor to lightly chop nuts until still chunky. Add remaining base ingredients and process until combined. When a dough ball forms press into the tin.

Create the icing

2/3 c coconut oil melted
4 T maple syrup
3/4 c cacao powder
1 tsp ground ginger
4 T orange juice

Place all icing ingredients in a power blender. Blend until smooth. Pour onto base.

Set and serve

Sprinkle with shredded coconut and place in the fridge to set for at least 4 hours. Store in fridge after cutting.

You can cut into small pieces for a crowd, or large chunks for a delicious treat.
