Lip Balms have been in use for millennia, and the best lip balms moisturise and protect your lips from drying and chapping.

Our lips can get sore, dry, cracked, and chapped in the weather. Wind and sun are a drying combination for our skin. We notice the effects more on our lips because lip skin is thin, and we also have a habit of licking our lips when they feel dry, which makes matters worse.

Lip care is nothing new. It's reported that Cleopatra used a combination of olive oil and beeswax to care for her lips.

Unfortunately, things didn’t stay lovely and natural.

In 1865 petroleum jelly hit the market, marketed as a healing formulation, this refined petrochemical product (commonly referred to as mineral oil) was sold to 'protect and heal skin'.

This ingredient became key in the commercialised lip balms, and by the early 1900’s the ingredients were melted and poured into plastic containers and the first plastic encased petroleum-derived balm was born.

Is lip balm adding to the plastic problem?

These little plastic tubes have become a big problem. It's estimated that over 200 million plastic lip balm tubes are thrown away every single year.

We now know that there is no such thing as 'away' and these little tubes end up in our landfills and oceans. In fact, not a single piece of plastic that’s ever been created has gone away. It is all still here in varying forms.

Interestingly, while America was exploring petroleum-derived lip balms, Japan was using camellia oil, beeswax, and plant extracts to make their lip care products.

Here at Everkind, we've taken a leaf out of nature’s book to re-imagine the modern lip balm. Creating an all-natural, certified organic lip balm from camellia, jojoba, and a dash of coconut oil to naturally care for your lips.

Why is Camellia Oil for Lip Care?

Camellia oil is an ancient treasure renowned for keep skin soft, supple, and simply glowing.

Camellia seeds are cold pressed to produce an exquisite organic oil, that's rich in antioxidants, oleic acid, Omegas 3, 6, and 9, and vitamins A, B, and E.

Combined with organic beeswax and carnauba wax, this luscious formulation keeps your lips feeling soft and supple all-day.

How does lip balm work?

Lip balm has a dual purpose. First, the oils nourish and moisturise your lips. Second, the wax forms a gentle barrier to protect your lips from the drying elements of life.

Achieving the balance between the two is an art as much as a science.

We measure the success of our lip balm formulations with a few simple questions:

💄Does it glide on?
💄Does it make your lips less dry, less rough, and more supple?
💄Does it make your lips look and feel soothing? and
💄Does it smell and taste good?

And now it's time for you to be the judge.

So, what makes Everkind lip balm simply unique?

We started with the loveliest ingredients and then designed a whole new applicator.

Let's start with the ingredients …

We've selected highly nourishing camellia and jojoba oils because of their uniquely moisturising properties and because they have long shelf life, which avoids that rancid lip balm taste.

We’ve also given the pre-mixed lip balm flavourings a miss, choosing instead cold-pressed, steam distilled, or exquisite CO2 extracted oils to naturally flavour the Everkind lip balm range.

These are the beginning of a luscious range of lip balms that glide onto your lips, moisturising and hydrating, with just a touch of gloss.

And the packaging?

Push-up home compostable tubes were a great start on the eco journey, but to make them wide enough for fingers to push up meant the application area was pretty broad.

So, we worked with paper engineers to design a new paper tube, one where the inner tube slides down, delivering precision application and ecoluxe for your lips.
